Stop LNPs racist attacks in Qld - July 27, 2025

A small rally at short notice was held in Magandjin for on July 27 to condemn the Queensland LNP governments bullying and violent deliberate attacks on many marginalised sections of society using racist laws against Aboriginal People, from its new draconian Youth Crime, Bail & Public Drunkenness Laws, ts attacks on the right to organise for unions, to its dismantling of protections for Trans youth, renters, public housing tenants , people with disability and disproportionate attacks on Aboriginal People and kids by Police and all arms of the state.

Speakers lamented the lack of mobilisation for the people that have performatively
MC'd by Sam Waiburra Watson, who brought us through the depth of the attacks via the LNP on the rights of Aboriginal People, and the continued impunity for the deaths in Qld custody of more and more Aboriginal people at the hands of the carceral state.
Michael Berkman, Qld Greens MP for Maiwar, spoke about the disgusting behaviour of Qld Parliamentarians in going along with the LNP's dismantling of Qlders rights and protections, especially the ALP who refused to vote against the egregious attacks on Aboriginal people.
Jodie Hall, a Wakka Wakka transwoman and organiser, spoke about the ban on Gender Affirming care for trans youth, as an attack on the health and human rights of all trans people in Queensland.
The rally also heard from Uncle Brett, an man who had lost several close family members by Deaths in Custody at the hands of the violence of QPS, as well as several other speakers, before marching through Queens Street Mall.
